16 May – 3 June 2023

Exhibition presented by The Sunset Collective

Expressing and celebrating the hive of creativity and collective of artists, embedded in the beautiful West Coast settlement of Port Waikato. On the southern bank of the river, at its outflow into the Tasman Sea, the black sands sparkle and whisper eternally and the rolling waves roar, announcing their ever powerful presence.

A total of 15 artists presented works both responsive to and reflective of the dynamic and ever changing black sand shore, sea and sky they all lovingly refer to as ‘home’.

The exhibition was well attended by Port locals and the wider Waikato community, with Caroline Burton from Franklin Arts Centre stating the exhibition was much enjoyed, very beautiful and that they loved having the exhibition in the space.

The Sunset Collective is Margaret Feeney, Carin Nicola, Robin Ranga, Grace Thresher and Jana Wood. Guests artists included Janine Blackburn, John Carr, Matt Coker, Lorraine Grant, Kate Lobb, Jo Moon, Glennys Smith, Marguerite Smith, Carey-Leigh Staunton and Craig James Staunton.
